1/ Project options

On the first screen, you will asked if you want to open an existing project or create a new one

if you create a new project, you will have to select a folder on your hard drive to store the project contents

if you have a project in your hard drive but not in the list. that means browser cache has been wiped or you copied the project folder to another machine, you can still go as if you create a new project and select the existing folder. the app will recognize your project.

you can delete projects from the list to free up hard drive space, this action cannot be undone.

after you select or create a project, you will be asked from a small browser popup on top side for an authorization to write in this folder.

2/ Top bar

on the top bar, you have a small block with your email and project name. click on it to open the user and project settings

you can change the output ratio of your project in the project and account settings. keep in mind it's better to start editing with the ratio you want because items might be out of screen and you may have to reposition things if you change afterwards.

if you want to build a video and output different ratios, try to put most of the content on the middle and not on the edges.

the project will be saved automaticly by default, you can disable this option. a button in the top bar will appear so you can manually save.

3/ Timeline Area

at the top side of the timeline area you have a rule of timings that show you the time between each scene and the scene durations. you can click and drag in this area to seek in the movie.

just below, you will see the scene sequence timeline, each scene is represented by a rectangle and a small square between the scene represent the transitions.

you can drop photos, videos in the scenes, and in the small vertical strips before and after the scenes.

you can also select items from the library, then click on the scene squares, transitions and spaces between to add elements to the movie.

you can click on the + sign at the end of the movie to add a blank scene

right below the scenes, you have a small area for the framing keyframes.

both audio and video views contain strips that can be selected, you can drop them and move their start or end

just above the timeline, you have a combo on the right that make you select the type of view you want.

  • by default, the scene view is shown, the width of the scenes in the timeline is always the same, whatever the duration of the scene is. it's a compact view that makes easy choosing transitions and building the skeleton of your movie.
  • you have 3 other views, that this time show scenes on a linear scale. that means you will see on screen always the same amount of time. that makes you see clearly the durations of the items and it's much easier if you need to place short timeline items in a long video scene.
  • you can have these type of scenes, clicking on a scene in the timeline area show the options panel:

  • blank scene: a scene with a color background you can choose, where you can add an effect, you can also choose a gradient or an abstract pattern who will use the selected colors. the background is also available for photos and videos when they are in 'fit' mode and don't cover all the scene.
  • photo and video scenes have a fit mode combo. where you can decide if you media should be cropped to cover the movie area, or not be cropped show borders, or show borders but show a blurred zoomed version on the unused areas.
  • video scenes have the following options:
  • set the playing range of the video, if you click on the button or double click on a video scene in the timeline, you will have a popup to select the part of the video you want to show in this scene
  • you will see your original media with a timeline below. you have two dots attached to a line that shows the start and end of the wanted segment.

you can move these dots to adjust the segment, you also have a button to play the selected segment.

you may see one or several colored block(s) in the background of this timeline. this shows the ranges of video that are already in use in the movie.

  • the "sync with preview scene" checkbox sets the starting time of the segment of video of this scene to match the time of the same video used in the previous scene. that means if two scene show the same video you synchronize the last scene with the first one. it will recalculate if you change the transition durations for example.
  • sound start and end fade duration controls the volume of the audio of the video when it starts and ends
  • playback speed controls then pace of the video, sound is disabled when video is not playing at normal speed
